Back in 2014 Derrick Gordon became the first openly gay NCAA basketball player. In a video posted to his youtube channel he talks about coming out, being black and how his coming out affected his basketball career.
He says: I wanted to dive a bit deeper into my background and lifestyle and how it was for me when I was in the closet and how it was for me when I came out. Always remember this no matter where you’re in life you can always come out on top.
